Self-Reflection

A couple of weeks before we left for Indianapolis, Mr. Lack asked for a volunteer to do an interview with Music for All. I felt confident that I would be able to do it, but as it got closer in the itinerary I began to feel less confident. Now looking back, I wish I had been less worried about it.

The first person I met was the social media manager for MFA and she was so sweet!  As a total coincidence, she asked for my opinion on a TikTok that she had edited. Funny enough, our ensemble was in a lot of the pictures of it. We made our way to the interview room and when I walked in, I realized how professional it actually was. I met the rest of the crew and the interview itself was really amazing. I’m grateful that I got to do it cause I got to reflect back on what I had learned at the festival so far. Although I expected to come out glad that it was done, the interview gave me a chance to not only appreciate how fun the festival had been so far but it allowed me also to treasure the little time I had left of it. I was able to reflect on our performance as well as the positive environment that the festival encouraged.  I think the part I will remember the most is all the new orchestra friends I made from other schools across the country. Hopefully, my interview will encourage other orchestras to apply to this unforgettable festival next year!
