Unstrung in Karaoke

After spending a day cramped in two airplanes and a day trying not to fall asleep from jet lag, being cramped in a room of 19 people would seem like the last thing I would want to do. Yet in the moment of watching my orchestra mates sing their heart out to karaoke, I gained a new perspective of what this trip meant to me. After our hours of time-consuming hard work, days of anxious anticipation, and years of learning to become musicians, moments like this make me realize what we’ve gone through, each individual of the orchestra. Our culmination of hard work waits to be poured out onto the grand Palladium stage tomorrow, all while Mr. Lack’s greatly planned itinerary rewards our perseverance throughout the entirety of our musician careers. I only sang one song with the microphone, which could barely pick up my voice, but the environment was just invigorating and filled with loud, immense happiness and joy. I was able to take it all in and see the close orchestra that we’ve become. I’m sad to see all the seniors go but I’m glad to enjoy their time while they’re here. After today, being cramped in a hot room with 18 other people for an entire hour ended up leaving me excited for what is yet to come only because I was able to spend that time with my orchestra.
