Invaluable Experiences in Indy

By Atom Paz • Sophomore • Violin

In February, I was ecstatic to learn that I had been selected to be the principal 2nd violinist in the CASMEC symphony orchestra. The conference was an amazing experience and the music was unforgettable. However, the short time we've spent in Indy has proven to be far more meaningful than any seating result. On Friday alone, so many things happened that I will reminisce on for many years to come. Elena, Raj, and I explored downtown Indy together and almost got run over. I had a spirited discussion on teachers with the violas. Laura and I butchered The Sound of Music in the karaoke room. Besides these little moments, I feel a greater sense of camaraderie between everyone in the orchestra. Today, I talked to people that I probably wouldn't have talked to otherwise. I am grateful that I have been able to get to know the people in my favorite class better because of Indy.
