Financial Considerations
We are excited that your child has chosen to be a part of our team and we are looking forward to the season ahead. Before starting the season, the program must ensure the necessary funding is in place. As you may already know, the budget dollars provided by the state to Clovis Unified do not fully fund the Buchanan High School Winter Percussion Ensemble (“Program”), including the following activities or expenses:
Staffing (our most significant expense!)
Show registration fees
Transportation/Trucks
Props
Vinyl Floor
Show & drill design
Equipment & supplies (Sticks, Mallets, Drumheads, etc)
Music writing
…and numerous other expenses that come up throughout the season.
Through fundraising and voluntary contributions, we will be able to offer these expanded opportunities. To continue to provide these opportunities, we must collectively raise the amounts necessary to cover our costs and have set a total fundraising goal for the Program of $18,000.00. Thus, estimating that there are 40 members, fundraising goals for the Program are approximately $450.00 per person.
$18,000.00 x ~40 members = $450.00 per member
To assist the Program in achieving its fundraising goal, we will offer fundraising opportunities for your child to participate in. Students may assist in fundraising through one or more of the opportunities. Families are also encouraged to make a voluntary contribution to the Program, in place of or in addition to fundraising.
These fundraising activities are not mandatory, and your child will not be adversely affected in terms of their participation in the Program if they cannot assist in fundraising and/or making voluntary contributions to the Program. The Program’s fundraising goal is a collective one, and not on an individual student basis. As such, the larger the number of students unable or unwilling to assist, the greater the burden on those students who do meet the Program’s fundraising goal for the benefit of everyone.
Based on the collective fundraising goal, if each of the members in the Program fundraises equally, the amount attributable to each student is only $450.00 or $150.00 a month for three months*.
*Visual Ensemble Members: The amount attributable to each student is only $300.00 or $100.00 a month for three months*.
We strongly encourage families and students to assist in fundraising activities and/or make voluntary donations to the Program so we can continue to offer these opportunities to our students. We also thank you in advance for your ongoing support of the Program and our students.
Winter Percussion Trips
*Please note that we have one Two-day trip planned to the WGI West Power Regional in Southern California (see dates above) in addition to our local competitions and performances. An additional field trip fee will be collected to cover the costs of the charter bus, registration fees, and some meals for the trip. We anticipate a trip cost of $250.00~$275.00. More trip information will be available soon.
