Alta Sierra Jazz Band
Central Coast Jazz Festival
Cuesta College - San Luis Obispo, CA
Friday, March 7, 2025
Dear Alta Sierra Jazz Band Parents/Guardians,
We are tentatively planning a trip to San Luis Obispo to perform at the Central Coast Jazz Festival at Cuesta College in March 2025! This is an exciting opportunity for our Jazz Band students to perform, receive a clinic from an expert musician, and watch other schools. This year is the 40th anniversary of the festival, and the evening concert will feature LA-based musicians Andy Martin, Eric Marienthal, and Wayne Bergeron. It doesn’t get any better than that (check out their websites and resumés)! Below are some tentative details for planning purposes.
Student Travel
While this is a more significant travel experience than we have done in the past, all trips we take are detailed and organized with our priority being the students’ safety. Clear expectations will be discussed and communicated thoroughly to ensure the students have the best/safest experience possible.

Chaperones
In order to keep the cost for this trip as low as possible, we will likely take 8-seat district-owned vans to this festival. We will need at least 3 chaperones that are willing to drive one of these vans. There may be additional space for non-driving chaperones.
The total field trip fee for the direct costs (transportation, festival fee, ticket to evening concert) associated with these field trips is $60.00 per student and chaperone. Students and chaperones will also need to bring money for lunch and dinner. If the trip is confirmed, we will send out an invoice in January.
Please complete and return the trip form (link below) by Monday, October 28, 2024. Financial assistance will be provided to those in need and should not be a deterrent to participation.
*Please note that the trip may not happen/be canceled if:
The amount of financial assistance requested exceeds our trip budget.
We are not able to travel with the entire band, with all parts covered.
Thank you for your support of this fantastic opportunity for our Alta Sierra Jazz Band!
